RLC Sabadell | Under construction | Sabadell, Barcelona, Spain. | Designed by Nada.
Rehabilitation of an old industrial warehouse for the RLC headquarters in Sabadell. | The starting point is a large warehouse in an industrial city area. The space is divided into two volumes: the main, larger one with a vaulted roof, and a smaller, attached one with a completely different design language. Our intervention further emphasises this difference. The newer volume contains the main facade, the reception area, and services, and on the second level, the worker’s area and a large terrace are located. A sizeable open-space work area is planned in the older, vaulted warehouse. A new mezzanine has also been added to house offices and meeting rooms. The treatment of space and materials remains faithful to its industrial past. Energy savings have been addressed by installing solar panels and implementing energy-efficient solutions. The facades have been treated with a double skin, which allows for solar modulation and provides ventilation throughout the year. The space will be used to house the new headquarters of the transportation company RLC in the province of Barcelona.
